HISTORY OF GIN
Gin's story begins in the 17th century when Dutch physician Franciscus Sylvius created "genever," a juniper-flavored medicinal spirit. Popularized in England after William of Orange brought it over during the "Glorious Revolution," gin evolved into the spirit we know today. The "Gin Craze" of the 18th century saw widespread production, often of dubious quality, leading to strict regulations like the Gin Act of 1751. Over time, gin transformed from a rough, working-class drink to a refined spirit central to classic cocktails like the Martini and Negroni. Today, it thrives in the craft spirits world, celebrated for its versatility and complex botanical profiles.
